one-way, two-way? what do you say?

So 7F, you’ve been part of a classroom experiment on one-way vs two-way communication, we’ve covered definitions for media, mass media, media text, and media outlet…I would like for you to use the language of media literacy (as well as your own words, of course!) to respond to the following questions.

#1. List 3 advantages (for the sender) of one-way communication, especially as they relate to mass media.

#2. List 3 disadvantages (for the receiver) of one-way communication.

#3. Are there any advantages for the receiver in one-way communication?

#4. Are there any disadvantages for the sender in one-way communication?

#5. When do media claim to offer two-way communication yet only offer a few more one-way options?

#6. Are letters to the editor in a newspaper two-way communication if the paper edits the letters and chooses which letters to publish?

#7. Are talk shows two-way if phone calls are screened (meaning someone is deciding which calls to send through to the host)?

    1. the advantages for the sender in one way communication
#1 the sender gets to advertise his product
#2 the sender gets thouroughly talk without being directed
#3 the sender doesent need to reply to questions or comments

    #1.
Adv. for the sender. (One way)
    1. A sender can state only the pros so that the media text sounds better.
    2. They won’t have to be concerned about feedback from the receiver.
    3. When it’s done the sender can continue on with his work instead of answering questions about the media text.

    #2.
    Dis. for receiver. (One way)
    1. The receivers can’t ask questions if they don’t understand.
    2. They might not get all the information they wanted.
    3. They might interpret the sender’s opinion differently.

    #3.
Adv. for the receiver? (One way)
I don’t really see a great deal of an advantage for the receiver. In this case (One way) I believe the senders have more of an advantage.

Dis. for the sender. (One way)
Again I don’t see much of a disadvantage for the sender other than he/she is required to describe the media text with good wording so that the receiver can comprehend what the sender is trying to say without asking questions.

I think they do this when you see pop-ups like “Meet ‘Enter Name’! Live!” but they turn out to be a scam that you give away your email + name too.

    #6.
I think yes and no. Yes, because the editor did in his own way a “feedback” by editing it. But no, because the second person didn’t have a say to it and might not have meant what the editor changed.

I think it’s not two way communication because the host is not really giving feedback or questioning it, he/she is accepting or declining it.

#1. List 3 advantages (for the sender) of one-way communication, especially as they relate to mass media.
    A. Well, one of the advantages is that the sender doesn’t have to post the negative points about what they are advertising, making opinions about or reviewing a product. Another advantage is that even if there are some negative things about their product, presentation or review, others cannot ask about them, or even know about them because they cannot come in contact with the sender. The last advantage is that if some of their audience doesn’t agree with them, it doesn’t really affect the sender because they have thousands (possibly millions) of people who view it as well as the people who disagree. Therefore, the majority of people may be interested in the product or agree with them so that amount of people who disagree don’t have much affect.

#2. List 3 disadvantages (for the receiver) of one-way communication.
    A. The first disadvantage for the reciever may be that they do have questions about the media they just recieved but cannot come in contact with the sender, or source. Therefore, they may not fully understand or have questions to ask the sender but they can’t. Secondly, the reciever may be offended or disagree with what the sender is broadcasting to these their audience and once again wouldn’t be able to come in contact with the sender. The last disadvantage is that the sender may be missing a few important details that the reciever should know. In that case, the reciever may be left confused or lost.
#3. Are there any advantages for the receiver in one-way communication?
Yes, because most of the time, because the sender knows the reciever cannot ask questions or come in contact with them, the sender usually adds addition information in case the reciever was wondering.
#4. Are there any disadvantages for the sender in one-way communication?
    A. Yes there are because since the recievers cannot come in contact with the senders, the senders do not know if the recievers understand, like, or agree with the senders. So the senders do not really know if their audience likes what the senders broadcasted.
#4. When do media claim to offer two-way communication yet only offer a few more one-way options?
Sometimes in magazines for example, you may read an article and want to speak to the writer/author they may give you their email adress or telephone number in the text, but sometimes they just lead you to sites where they MIGHT have your answers posted. Such as FAQ sites.
#5. Are letters to the editor in a newspaper two-way communication if the paper edits the letters and chooses which letters to publish?
    A. I think they are still two way communication because the editor is still answering questions but I also think it’s one way communication because if the question is edited, it may become a completely different question than the one the sender asked.
#6. Are talk shows two-way if phone calls are screened (meaning someone is deciding which calls to send through to the host)?
    A. I think it’s still two way because the host still recieves phone calls from the caller and the caller may ask questions that other callers want to ask. Because the reciever still gets in contact with the sender, but they are selected callers.

    1) For a sender I think that one-way communication is better. The sender has more freedom and does not need to listen to anyone else’s opinion or answer any questions. They are flexible to say what they want no questions asked. It is easier for senders that use one-way communication make their product sell better because they can state all the pros and have no questions asked about the cons. In one-way communication the sender can omit some parts of the information to make the receiver interpret the message to the sender’s benefit (usually in advertisements or in politics). These are all advantages for the sender in one-way communication.

    2) For the receiver one-way communication is not the best way for communicating. The receiver will not understand all the features about the product or information. Another disadvantage to the receiver is that if they can’t ask questions and question about the cons of the product they will be easily tricked about what the media says . Also they cannot provide feedback about the product or information to the sender. Another reason is the media might not follow your values, beliefs or may be offending and you will not be able to reply and tell them not to send this information or message. These are examples of different disadvantages.

    3) In my opinion one-way communication is not the type of communication meant for the receivers and does not have many advantages. One advantage may be that the receivers will listen attentively. Also another advantage is that it is quick and time saving.

    4) One-way communication is definitively the most beneficial for the sender, but there are still are a few disadvantages A disadvantage for the sender in one-way communication is that if the receiver does not understand all the features about the product then they might not care about the information or product. Another one is that the sender needs to work more on the message to think about what to tell and what not to tell. this is time consuming (for the sender).

    4) Some media provide ways of two-way communication but there are people with jobs that pick the questions being asked. These questions can be easily answered in a way that is beneficial for the sender. This is somewhat one-way communication.

    5) Another example of offering a two-way communication is asking the receivers to send a message in response. This is actually one way because they edit the letter and choose which one they want to post for other receivers. It is like modeling someone else’s idea to the benefit of the sender.

    6) Screening a phone call is two-way but the people who let the calls through are letting the calls that can be answered in a positive way and promotes the message sender has sent. This is pretty much one-way because the questions concerning other features of the product or the cons of the media are rejected.

#1. Most of the time, the sender’s email won’t be there, so if the reciever wanted to reply something that the sender won’t want to hear.(ex. a threat)
If the reciever were a hacker who likes to stalk people, it’s an advantage that the sender doesn’t have their email address there.
Sometimes the sender might be a hacker trying to find out which email address are real, and which ones are fake. If the reciever replied that means the hacker knows that the email address is genuine. The sender could have a fake name, and temporary email address just for hacking. So, it’s still one way communication because the reciever couldn’t exactly
reply to a specific person that they know. So they’ll find ways to figure out your password, and when they do, they can get valuable personal info.

    2

#2. The reciever might be really annoyed with the messages, and wants it
to stop, but he/she doesn’t have a way to stop it.
The sender might not be very clear on what he said, so the reciever might of misunderstood his/her message.
The message could give viruses to to the reciever’s computer, but he/she can’t terminate it.

  6. Tony K.

3 advantages of one-way communication for the sender are: 1) The receiver only receives the information the sender wants them to see, nothing else; 2) The sender doesn’t need to worry about certain audiences disagree with his/her/their media text because the audience can’t get in contact with the sender; 3) The sender would have less work to do, more money and more time for future projects.

3 disadvantages of one-way communication for the receiver are: 1) The receiver doesn’t know if the media text that he/she/they are receiving is truthful or not; 2) The receiver can’t get in contact with the sender whether it’s hate mail or questions or suggestions; 3) For young children one-way communication may cause behavioral issues because when people are young and they are presented the same message over and over again that message may start to seem like a guide-line in life and if the sender’s message is wrong or untruthful, the child will grow up to have a different (maybe wrong) perspective to life. Also parents can’t remove the media text because it’s one-way communication.

No, I don’t think that their is no advantage about one-way communication to the receiver, but one-way communication is very important in are lives because the world is in a deadlock: if we take out one-way communication one huge part of media disappears and we don’t have enough money or nobody wants to spend that kind of money to make every media text two-way communication. There’s really nothing we can do about it right now. One-way communications may not have any advantages for the receiver, but it is very important.

Yes, I think that there are disadvantages about one-way communication to the sender. There are a couple, I think. In my opinion some disadvantages are: 1) The sender can’t get feedback on his/her/their media text. He/she/they’ll put up a media text thinking it’s wonderful, but it’s terrible. The sender won’t know that his/her/their media text is horrible or he/she/they won’t know what to do about it until they get suggestions from the receivers (they won’t get any because it’s one-way communication); 2) The sender doesn’t know that his/her/their media text is a) incorrect or b) inappropriate or c) offensive. The sender may not know that because he/she/they can’t get any hate mail or suggestions and they won’t know, probably unless the media text is really offensive and the sender gets sued.

I don’t know the answer to question 4 (P.S. It should be question 5 ;) and the rest in chronological order).

Yes and no, it depends on the conditions of the situation. If the person sending the letter has mistakes in his/her letter and some inappropriate language and the paper corrected it, than it’s two-way communication, but if the person sends a hate mail and in the paper the letter is suddenly positive than it’s one-way communication. To simplify if the letter has the same meaning after editing than it’s two-way communication, if the letters meaning is completely different than it’s one-way and if the letter isn’t published than you don’t know, but it’s probably one-way communication.
Also, if you actually think about it all the letters are two-way communication because the paper or the sender is reading every letter to see which ones to publish.

I think yes because I don’t know how talk shows select callers, but I think it’s the first come first serve. So there’s a long line up of callers and a the first few are chosen to ask questions or make suggestions. I think, technically, talk shows are two-way communications because people get the chance to communicate with the media text it’s just you have to be the lucky ones chosen.

  7. Lisa Ding

#3. No, because a one-way communication is very confusing, and unclear. There could be a lot of misunderstanding between the sender, and the reciever because they have no idea who each other are, also knows nothing about each other.

#3. I think that the sender has the upper hand, but they do have disadvantages. The reciever might not comprehend the message that’s been given. So, the sender should have to be very specific on what they want to convey others.
#4. There are some media that are two-way communication, however there are some people with jobs that find out the answers being asked. The sender discovers the answers that will be effective towards the sender. This considers as an one-way communication.
#5. This is not a two-way communication because it has been revised, and changed, so that means the sender isn’t informed about what changes the reciever had made.
#6. Yes, and no because first of all, some of the calls goes to the host; however some are being terminated, and does not go to the host.

  8. 1. Three advantages of one-way communication for the sender are: 1) They can send the message without getting interrupted. 2) The audience can’t ask questions, so they won’t be able to know much about the message, and they may buy the product or watch the movie, etc. 3) The sender can make the words seem like it means something good, but it could be the opposite. If the audience is able to ask questions, the message can be clarified and they can understand it better.

    2. Three disadvantages of one-way communication for the receiver are: 1) They might be tricked into buying a product because they interpreted the message wrong. 2) If the receiver buys the product, and doesn’t know how to use it, they can’t ask for clarification. 3) It spends a lot of time understanding the message if you can’t ask questions to understand better.

    3. In my opinion, there are no advantages for the receiver in one-way communication, because the message is not clear for them, and they could misunderstand.

    4. Yes, there are some disadvantages for the sender in one-way communication, because if the receiver has advice to make the product better and more popular, they cannot tell the sender.

    5. On sites like Facebook and Twitter, if a celebrity posts a comment and you reply, they usually don’t reply back, because thousands of other people do the same thing. The sites are two-way communication but the results turn out to be one-way.

    6. No it is not two-way communication, because if the letter is edited, it is not your work. If the letter is not published then there is no audience except for the editor.

    7. No, in my opinion talk shows are not two-way if phone calls are screened, because the person deciding which calls to send through to the host are usually choosing the ones that say good things about the show, and the ones that have good questions and statements.

#1. List 3 advantages (for the sender) of one-way communication, especially as they relate to mass media.
a)The sender doesn’t have to worry about if others wouldn’t like there idea because they wouldn’t know what other would want.
    b) The sender can just use there own idea and doesn’t have to take others idea to add on, if the sender didn’t want to.
    c) The sender wouldn’t have time to reply to all the messages they get’s.
#2. List 3 disadvantages (for the receiver) of one-way communication.
a)The disadvantages is that maybe the sender didn’t answer the question of the receiver and there not allowed to ask questions about it.
    b) If they don’t agree with the sender they can’t say why they disagree to maybe change the receiver thoughts.
c)Maybe the receiver wants to add on there points/information to make it better and more detailed.
#3. Are there any advantages for the receiver in one-way communication?
    a) I think there is no advantages for the receiver because if they don’t get something they can’t ask what it means.
#4. Are there any disadvantages for the sender in one-way communication?
    a) I think there are disadvantages because maybe the sender wants some opinions to help them make it more clear and understandable.People might ask some questions that the sender would put in the communication.
#5. When do media claim to offer two-way communication yet only offer a few more one-way options?
    a) It usually happens on hotmail’s, they some how find you e-mail and sends something to you and if you try to reply back they wouldn’t say anything.
#6. Are letters to the editor in a newspaper two-way communication if the paper edits the letters and chooses which letters to publish?
    a) I think it’s two way because if someone write them a letter asking a question and the editor answer’s it then that mean that they communicated to each other.
#7. Are talk shows two-way if phone calls are screened (meaning someone is deciding which calls to send through to the host)?
    a) Yes it it is a two way communication because the host picks up the phone and talks to the person calling, and possible the the person called the host cause they have a question.

  10. animal lovr (aka soliyana)

#1. List 3 advantages (for the sender) of one-way communication, especially as they relate to mass media.

A .I think that 3 advantages (for the sender) would be…

    1. they could only show a product in the point of view that only lists the pros of a product.

2.another would be that the sender would not have to worry on how they worded what they wanted to say as long as it made sense to them.

    3. another advantage is that the product can’t be questioned or answered with key questions you should ask yourself before buying something and if they are answered their truth can be stretched and shown under a positive light even if its not “necesarilly” true.

#2. List 3 disadvantages (for the receiver) of one-way communication.

    1. as i said before “the product can’t be questioned or answered with key questions you should ask yourself before buying something and if they are answered their truth can be stretched and shown under a positive light even if its not “necesarilly” true.” so the receiver may not be able to get enough information to judge if its worth buying and may trust the judgement of the sender.

#3. Are there any advantages for the receiver in one-way communication?

no I do not think that there are any advantages for the receiver in one-way communication because because the message is not clear for the receiver, and they could easily misunderstand.

#4. Are there any disadvantages for the sender in one-way communication?

yes, i think there are disadvantages for the sender in one-way communication because if the receiver has any feedback they are unable to share it with the sender.

#5. When do media claim to offer two-way communication yet only offer a few more one-way options?

when they are trying to trick us into thinking that they are taking our feedback but really don’t and in that turn of events we turn out to become the senders!

#6. Are letters to the editor in a newspaper two-way communication if the paper edits the letters and chooses which letters to publish?

no, as its not exactly what the pearson from the letters is trying to say.

#7. Are talk shows two-way if phone calls are screened (meaning someone is deciding which calls to send through to the host)?

i think so, because it is still a conversation between two people and the receiver can clarify wat the sender is sending out.

  11. 1. first advantage is that the sender gets his/her message to the reciever. The second advantage is that it doesn’t matter if people don’t like the ad for example because they never made it. The third advantage for the sender is that he or she is not doing the work and they choose what happens.
    2. The first disadvantage is that you can’t reply or comment on what the sender told you to do. The second disadvantage is that you can’t send your message across to the sender. The third disadvantage you don’t understand what the sender is saying you can’t ask the sender so you won’t do the job right.
    3. Yes because the message can come across faster. The reciever can twist what the sender said to make it mainly their idea but they are still following the senders instructions. The reciever also chooses what it will say on an ad for example. The rweciever will choose what it will say because the reciever is making it and the sender can’t comment on it.
4.Yes because the sender can’t hear from the reciever to see what he/her has to say about it. The sender may not always get his/her message to the reciever so the reciever can change something and not make it the senders vision. Also there is no way of the reciever to communicate with the sender to tell him or her what they did and if they did it right.
    5. When people are trying to communicate with celebrities but celebrities don’t always get the message since there are thousands of people saying the same thing.
    6. No because not all of the letters are being published so so most of the letters don’t send the message that they are ment to send. Also the letters that are published they are edited so the editors can twist your words to make it seem like something else and you never know what the editors will do so they have the power to change your message.
7.yes talk shows are two way if phone calls are screened because the reciever can still communicate with the sender and ask questions. As in one way the reciever can’t communicate with the sender.

So srry for the late entry!!

  12. George Kolo

    1. One of the advantages of the sender is that he/she gets to show you their information, product or thoughts. Another advantage is that the sender actually knows what he/she is doing (or supposed to) and talking about. And third, the sender may have some interesting things to say… So listen.

  13. George Kolo

    2. One disadvantage for the riciver of one way communication is that you cant give feed back like tell the person or thing ” oh i thought that was really good” or “i think you can improve because…” . And another disadvantage is that you cant quite see who is giving you this message…. Anyone can be someone they really aren’t. And lastly you can’t ask questions and expect them to be answered

  14. 1.The advantage of the sender is that he/she can tell the person what to do for one way communication. The sender can also say the angle of the object she/he is describeing. She/he could also explain what color it is.
2.One the resever has a desadvantage by how the sender explains is case. The sender can also mess up the argument. The resever could also reseve the wrong content.
3.There is no way the resever has any advantages over the sender because it is one way communication so the resever can’t ask any questions.
    4. Yes there is a disadvantage for the sender too because the resever can’t ask anymore questions because its one way if its two ways you can.
5.When the resever can ask questions about what the sender is saying. The sender can also question or comment on what the resever is doing wrong.
6.This is one way communication because the letter is being sent to the editor there is no way the sender can say anything about the letter so it is one way communication.
7.This is two way communication because there talking on a phone and the host can hear and talk to the sender at the same time.

  15. 1. Advantages of the sender in one way communication
    1) show only the pros or cons of a product depending on their goal
    2) can say things without being questioned
    3) can get through information faster due to no interruptions

    2. dis-advantages of the receiver in one way communication
    1) can’t ask questions or ask for clarifications on the subject
    2) receiver has no choice but to accept what the sender says even without proof
    3) receiver may not comment on the senders message to tell him if the message is offensive or to give the sender feedback etc.

    3. No i dont think that there are any advantages for the receiver in one-way communication because the message may not be clear for the receiver and yet the receiver cant ask questions to understand better neither can he ask for clarifications. Also the receiver only receives the information the sender is willing to let out not everything there is to know and they might not necessarily be receiving the truth.

    4. I think that there are disadvantages to for the sender in one-way communication because usually a sender would want feedback to see if he did well or not and what to improve on so that he can improve and in the future get better at it.

    5. Media claim to offer two-way communication yet only offer a few more one-way options when they say something like (to ask questions or to send in comments call this number or go to this website) but they dont check that specific email they gave u and dont pick up the phone to that number.

    6. No i dont think thatll count as two way communication because the editor reads the letters people send to him but never replies back instead he edits them and chooses specific ones to publish. So basically hes just publishing other peoples work not actually communicating with them.

    7. Yes i think that would count as two way because they are still communicating even though some of them are screened and not showed to the public because two way communication is having a conversation being able to send and receive messages and that is what they are doing.

  16. #1. List 3 advantages (for the sender) of one-way communication, especially as they relate to mass media.
It is faster for the sender to tell the other person it’s idea, comment, question or instruction.
The sender will not have to take his/her time answering questions from his/her partner.
One way communication goes from its beginning to the end with no interruptions made to the sender to be asked by the receiver.

#2. List 3 disadvantages (for the receiver) of one-way communication.
    1. The receiver will not get the sender’s instructions, questions, or comments all correct because he/her might not get all the facts straight.
    2. The receiver might not get everything down on paper with his/her questions in a limited amount of time.
    3. The receiver might put a wrong word, time, date, or will accidently do a mistake with one way communication.

#3. Are there any advantages for the receiver in one-way communication?
The advantages for the receiver in one-way communication are:
    - An advantage the receiver focuses on one question instead of any other information given to the receiver.
    - An advantage is that the receiver gets faster instructions from the sender.

#4. Are there any disadvantages for the sender in one-way communication?
The disadvantages for the sender in one way communication are:
    - The sender had a disadvantage with not having any feedback.
    - The sender also has no contact with his/her partner.

#5. When do media claim to offer two-way communication yet only offer a few more one-way options?
Media claims to offer two communications yet offer a few more one-way options because one way might be easier for them than wasting their time on having to answer questions, comments and (optional) instructions. One way communication takes up less time for the sender because they just give the information out without the receiver asking what the instructions were, what comments or questions they have.
#6. Are letters to the editor in a newspaper two-way communication if the paper edits the letters and chooses which letters to publish?
Two way communication is where the editor would give his/her comments but would also receive comments or feedback from the viewers and these views are used in the editorial article.
If the editor edits the letter the way he/she wishes then he/she is changing the opinions in the letters. This is contrary to two way communication where you respect the views and the opinions of the editor and the readers.
#7. Are talk shows two-way if phone calls are screened (meaning someone is deciding which calls to send through to the host)?
It is two-way because the audience can hear everything that is said, and ig=f they had the same or similar problem, they might be able to help the caller to understand what financial, family or health problem they must be having.

  17. Skittlez (Drew)

    1) The sender does can do without suggestions
The sender can finish without interruptions
The sender may type to the person of their choosing
    2) Message can be spam
The receiver might feel offended by whatever’s written
    The message can have errors
    3) No because in one-way communication the person receiving the message does’nt have the ability to respond to the message so in some cases the message can be very important and the person sending might make a mistake so the person receiving can’t clarify.
    4) Yes there are some disadvantages for the sender because if what the sender is sending is something that will go out into the public and they make spelling errors they can’t take it back.
    5) The media claim to offer two-way communication yet only offer more one-way communication when you try calling a phone company for imformation and in the commercials they say you will always be able to talk to a real person yet the company let’s you speak to a automated voice.

  18. Skittlez (Drew)

    6) Letters to the editor of a newspaper to be published isin’t really two-way communication because yes someone is sending you a letter but it is ment to be published as something not only you would read but alot of people would read so the editor isin’t really talking back to you.
    7) Yes talk shows are a type of two-way xommunication because when you talk to the host whether live or by web chat or by phone call the host will still be able to talk back to you so whether live or not, talk shows are a form of two-way communication.

  19. Sara M&M

#1. List 3 advantages (for the sender) of one-way communication, especially as they relate to mass media.

    (1) In one way communication when the sender is advertising their product their advertisement may be different and may seem better from the actual product so the viewers only see what the sender wants them to see. That way the viewers see the product in the advertisement and not the actual product and maybe even buy that certain product and discover it wasn’t what they wanted leaving the view/customer unsatisfied but the SENDER SATISFIED!

    (2) So picking up from where we left off the customer is left unsatisfied and may want to make a complaint(or maybe even sue the sender or that company) to the sender/advertiser but she/he will not be able to contact the sender which is indeed a HUGE advantage for the sender!

    (3) The last advantage in my opinion that one way communication is better for the sender is because they don’t have to face the judgement or dissatisfaction of the receiver and live their lives normally with the money they have earned.
#2. List 3 disadvantages (for the receiver) of one-way communication.
    (1) I think that one of the greatest disadvantages is that if the receiver does not want to receive the media that the sender is sending for example spam they will not be able to do anything about it.
    (2) The receiver might misunderstand the message that the she or he is receiving and does not have the chance to correct themselves.
    (3) Another thing is that they won’t be able to contact the sender to ask about anything or tell the something
#3. Are there any advantages for the receiver in one-way communication?
There aren’t a lot of advantages for the receivers in one way communication and I think that one way communication is mainly meant for the sender but one advantage could be that since the receiver knows that they will not be able to ask questions they will pay more attention to the details of the media.
#4. Are there any disadvantages for the sender in one-way communication?
I think that there is one disadvantage for the sender. Before I mentioned that and advantage for the sender is that they can’t have contact with the receiver but this can also be a disadvantage if the sender wants to hear the feedback of the receiver so maybe he or she can improve their product.
#5. When do media claim to offer two-way communication yet only offer a few more one-way options?
I’m guessing that they offer more one way communications because mainly they are easier, quicker and less time consuming so the sender will not have to spend a lot of time answering questions and other things like that.
#6. Are letters to the editor in a newspaper two-way communication if the paper edits the letters and chooses which letters to publish?
NO. I find that it is not two way communication is when the editor/sender gives their comments and ideas and also receives the comments and ideas of the receivers as well. If the editor’ sender changes what the receivers have said it is no longer two way communication.
#7. Are talk shows two-way if phone calls are screened (meaning someone is deciding which calls to send through to the host)?
In my opinion yes because when the host is selecting the caller he or she does not know who they are selecting and what they have to say that way when the audience is listening to what the person is saying on the show it probably won’t be edited out or replaced by something else so it is one way communication.
